About ten days ago, I did my first news segment on WTNH News 8.
It was a back to school segment where I talked about ways you can save money on back to school stuff.
(If you didn’t see it, you can watch it here: Not Your Average Mom On 4 Ways to Save on Back To School Supplies)
I’ve been meaning to write a post about it, because in preparing for that segment, I discovered a new way to save money.
It’s called TopCashback.com.
They did not ask me to write this post, and they are not compensating me to write this post (although if you open a (totally free) account with them through this link and you end up purchasing stuff through them, then I will get a referral commission).
But I wanted to share it with you because it’s a really easy way to save money when you shop online without doing anything.
Seriously.
If you have heard of Ebates, then this is the same thing.
Except TopCashback is better.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s very simple.
TopCashback.com is exactly what the name of the site says. It’s a cashback site. Meaning if you shop through their site, they give you money back.
It’s very simple.
You go to TopCashback.com, and open an account. It takes less than a minute.
Once you have an account, you can start shopping. They have affiliations with thousands of stores. Amazon, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart, Gap, Carter’s, Toys R Us… Even EBay! Pretty much anywhere you shop.
You get a different percentage of cash back depending on the site. There are also coupon deals available.
For instance, JCPenney has some really good deals right now. 10% cash back is pretty good.
If you wanted to shop at JCPenney, you simply click the “Get Cashback Now” button, and you are redirected to the site.
And then you start shopping!
When you check out, your savings automatically shows up in your TopCashback account.
Right now I have $120 available to cash out in my account. Unlike Ebates, when you shop through TopCashback, once your money is available to cash out, you don’t have to wait to get it (Ebates only issues rebate checks every 3 months). You can transfer it into a bank account or PayPal account as soon as it’s “payable.”
It does usually take several weeks for the cashback to get into your account because they have to get paid from the merchants before they can pay you. So you have to be patient.
But it’s worth it!
Here’s what my dashboard looks like right now:
I’ve got $122.44 in my account.
But only $120 of that is available to cash out right now.
So I can put it directly into my bank account.
But here’s another great thing…
You also have the option to cash your money out and get a gift card, and then you get even more cash back. If I got a Nike gift card rather than depositing my money in my bank account, I’d get a card for $132! I’d make an extra twelve bucks!
I’ll show you how I used the site today.
It’s Number 7’s birthday in a couple weeks, and I told her we could do something, just her and me.
Keep in mind that we very rarely do anything or go anywhere, and we almost never eat out anywhere, so anything we do together will be a treat.
I look at Groupon every once in a while, but I’ve never actually bought anything through that site.
I went to Groupon today through TopCashback and checked out the deals.
There was a 10% cashback deal which is pretty good as far as the percentage of cashback that is offered.
So I checked out Groupon and saw a Denny’s deal right away.
$20 of food at Denny’s for $10 is pretty good! So I got that.
On Number 7’s birthday, I’m going to pick her up from school and surprise her with a trip to Denny’s. For most people that may not be a big deal, but for her, it will be awesome!
And since I’m a new Groupon customer, I got an additional 10% off. So I got $20 at Denny’s for $9. The $1 cashback from TopCashback went into my account, in and a few months, I’ll be able to cash that.
I know $1 may seem like a joke.
But if you do a lot of shopping online, or if you do your Christmas shopping online, that adds up!
And it’s such an easy way to save yourself some money.
There are also cashback deals on travel — Expedia, Travelocity, Hotels.com… So many sites where you can save money, just by going through this site!!!
It’s honestly kind of stupid not to do all your online shopping through TopCashback.
I sure wish I had discovered this earlier… I used Hotels.com to book the hotel room we stayed in when we went to the Jersey Shore. I could have saved myself a bunch of money had I gone through TopCashback!
Don’t miss out like I did! Check out TopCashback. It’s a no-brainer and depending on how much shopping you do online, it could save you hundreds of dollars a year!
