If you are trying to simplify your wardrobe or if you want to create a capsule wardrobe or if you have been living in sweats and hoodies and yoga pants and would like to start wearing actual clothes again but the thought any of those things leaves you feeling overwhelmed, I have the perfect solution for you.
It’s called Get Your Pretty On (affiliate), and it helped me not only declutter my closet but also figure out how to get dressed again without spending a buttload of time or money in the process.
Get Your Pretty On is a first of its kind online styling program that gives you the tools you need to build your own capsule wardrobe. It’s called a style challenge because it challenges you to get out of your comfort zone, get dressed, and maybe try a new style (which isn’t much of a challenge if you’ve been wearing yoga pants for the past five years).
In reality, there is nothing challenging about this (awesome) program at all, because all the work is done for you.
I won’t make you wait until the end to see what you have to pay or what your are going to get. But I will tell you I have purchased these challenges multiple times, and they have made getting dressed and looking cute take no time at all. With only a few pieces of clothing, you get an entire wardrobe.
The program costs $39.00.
Here is what you get for that. (it’s a lot)
I’ll show you the Fall 2015 challenge I participated in.
When you register, you get a shopping list, descriptions of the items in the list, pictures of suggested items, links to items online, and at least 21 outfit combinations.
These were the items in the 2015 Fall Challenge:
Along with pictures of suggested items, you also get an actual list:
Next, you get more detailed descriptions of the items, (along with substitutions):
And then you get at least 21 days of outfit combinations. Here are a couple of them:
Now let me show you how this worked for me.
Let’s go back to the picture of all the items.
I already had the blue and the black jeans. I didn’t have a denim shirt, but I had a denim jacket. I substituted a white t-shirt for the white oxford. I had the brown riding boots and the black tights. Instead of that patterned shirt on the bottom right corner, I got a plaid shirt.
I substituted a brown leather jacket I already had for the camel blazer. I did not buy two different purses. I’m not a purse kind of girl.
So I already had about half of the stuff in my closet. The rest I bought mostly online and at TJ Maxx. I probably spent about $250 on everything else.
Here are some of the outfits I wore that fall:
I looked great!
The $39 investment saved me SO MUCH TIME. I didn’t have to figure out what went with what. It was all done for me. If I had to go to one of the kids’ classrooms or to a meeting or to a mom’s night out, I never had to stress or even think about what I was going to wear. I spent zero time making decisions about clothes. It left me with more time and more brain power to think about other more important things.
It definitely saved me way more than $39 in time.
And that’s the most valuable commodity of all.
And it also helped me to purchase only articles of clothing that went with lots of other stuff.
You know, like Garanimals for grown ups. I didn’t waste my money on things that were cute but that ultimately didn’t go with anything else in my closet.
It was so worth the investment.
But here’s the other thing.
There are four of these challenges every year. One for every season. And many of the items in the fall challenge carry over into the winter challenge.
Here is the Winter 2015 challenge:
All the jeans in the fall challenge can carry over to the winter challenge. So do some of the tops and shoes and accessories.
And again, you start in your closet.
The outfit below on the right was straight out of the fall challenge with the addition of the winter jacket and boots.
The outfit on the right used jeans I already had, boots I already had, a purse I already had, and a black blazer I already had. I bought the sparkly top online for $9.99!
Joining this program was one of the best things I ever did for myself.
If you could use some help creating your own capsule wardrobe or simplifying your wardrobe, I highly, HIGHLY recommend the GYPO Fall 2017 Style Challenge!
If you work, and this capsule wardrobe is too casual for you, there is also a GYPO Fall Workwear Challenge.
If you are a stay-at-home-mom and want something even more simple, there is the Stay At Home Mom Casual Basics Wardrobe Builder ($29)!
And if you have daughters, there is also Fall 2017 Girls’ Back To School Capsule ($29).
Check them out. They helped me figure out what pieces of clothing I really want to invest my money in, and what pieces of clothing I feel most comfortable and classy and put together and attractive and even sexy in.
For me, they were 100% worth the investment.
