Most of you know that I love yoga.
I’ve fallen a little bit off the wagon recently, though.
Now that the kids are back to school and I have my feet back under me, I’m getting back to it.
And I really hope I can inspire more people to give yoga a shot.
But I understand why people are so reluctant to give it a try.
First, if you, like me, were a serious athlete at any point in high school or college (or both), you may be under the mistaken impression that yoga can’t give you a good work out. Or that if you aren’t beating the shit out of your body, it’s not worth it.
You are wrong on both of those accounts. But I’ve got time to convince you otherwise.
Then there is the intimidation factor.
You may have been to a yoga class and felt like you were the heaviest or the oldest or the most clueless or the least flexible person in that class.
Yoga class can send lots of superlatives through your head.
There are plenty of yoga snobs or yoga douches or yoga dick heads out there.
But even the really cool ones say things like release the tension in your hands or focus only on your breath or some other crunchy phrase that you just aren’t ready to listen to without internally rolling your eyes.
And if that’s the case, you are in luck.
I have the perfect meditation for you.
The perfect introduction to slowing down your mind.
Give it a listen.
More than once, if necessary.
And the next time something in your life really fucking pisses you off, just focus on your breath.
And breathe in strength, breathe out bullshit.
Namaste, Bitches!
