Ding, Ding, Ding… Round Two!

January 17, 2015 by not your average mom 6 Comments

Okay. So a recap.

A couple months ago, Personal Trainer Food offered me 4 weeks of their program for free.

I had lost control in the eating department, and so I happily accepted the offer.

I had to follow the blogger rules or else they’d make me pay for the food. That right there was enough motivation to stay on track.

The first couple days sucked, and then they weren’t bad at all.

And yesterday was the last day of the fourth week.

So here are the stats.

I have been really good about following the rules.

While I don’t want to microwave frozen food for the rest of my life, the food is actually really good, and having healthy choices ready to grab has been beyond convenient.

My diet has been completely reset.

Sure, every once in a while I think about having some pizza or cereal or pretzels or whatever, but the sugar and carb cravings are pretty much gone.

And there were a couple of days where I worked out a lot, and I was starving. But rather than just scarf down a bagel, I added in another serving of protein or a salad with some roasted chicken on it.

I feel so good!

I have lost nine pounds.

I know for sure I’ve lost more than nine pounds of fat, but I’m also positive I’ve gained a few pounds of muscle.

I don’t mind gaining that kind of weight.

I’ve lost over two inches from my waist.

And some of my old clothes fit again.

I see a difference in my clothes.

Once I had committed to eating better, then some other things happened.

I committed to trying something new.

I started yoga.

And then this happened:

Changing my diet has had kind of a domino effect.

Because the changes on the scale or in my waistline weren’t the only ones occurring.

Once I started feeling better physically, I started feeling better emotionally, too.

Because I had regained some control.

And then, I started wanting to look a little more presentable, too.

Look at my after bikini picture again:

PTF day 1-28It’s not just my figure that looks different.

It feels good to care about myself and to take care of myself.

All of myself.

And my outlook on food has changed.

I thought as soon as I got to Day 28, I’d go on a bender.

That I’d eat any carb I could get my hands on.

I froze a whole plate of Christmas cookies so I could have one (or ten) when I was done with my four weeks.

As a reward.

But now my perspective on what a reward is has changed.

I decided that instead of binging on those cookies, my reward would be asking Personal Trainer Food if I could have one more month of their program in exchange for blogging about it.

So I did.

And they said yes.

Eventually I think I’ll get to the point where I can enjoy things in moderation.

But right now, I know I’m just not there.

And I want to set myself up for long-term success.

So I’m going to stay the course.

I’m going for Round Two.
