Holy Glamour Don’t

July 28, 2012 by not your average mom 4 Comments

I was not very popular with the boys back in high school.  I really struggled with it at the time, and I couldn’t, for the life of me, figure out  what the problem was.

Hmmmmm.  Maybe it had something to do with this…

Yeah, that’s me on the left.  I know.  Niiiiiiice.

Between the haircut, $2 t-shirt, too-short, high-waisted mom pants, camel toe, and fucking suspenders, the guys must have thought I was either a lesbian, or a transfer from clown school.

What the hell???  How did I come up with that ensemble?

My mom must have been seeeeeeeeeeeriously pissed at me that morning.

Not only did she allow me to go to school like that… she allowed me to go to school like that on the day they were going to take pictures of the high school swim team captains and put that picture in the newspaper.

Good one Mom.

So when your girls inevitably tell you how you are the worst mother ever and ask repeatedly, “Why won’t you buy me that shirt/skirt/dress/outfit???”  And then finally scream “I HATE YOU!!!” before storming off to their room and slamming the door, well, you can show them this picture.

At least you never did that to them.

please take one tiny second to vote for me 😉

THANK YOU!!!

    Susie,

Wasn’t this picture also in our senior yearbook? 😉

Listen, I agree that you should think about what your kids are saying when they want to wear something fashionable and they cry when they don’t get it, BUT, you weren’t the only girl wearing clothes like that back then. To me it seemed to be the norm, that’s just how it was in the 80’s. Besides, your ever present gorgeous smile, swimmers physique, contagious laughter and sharp wit never allowed us to focus on your clothes! Still loving your blog, keep it up!
