The Man from CL&P was here at 7:30 this morning.
The microwave died yesterday.
Our backyard smells like shit because our septic is failed and I don’t know how we are going to get it fixed.
So I’ve been a little stressed out today.
I was standing out on the back deck, staring at the yard, worrying about the poop situation, completely preoccupied…
Mommy.
Mommy.
MOMMY.
MOMMY.
MOMMY!
MOMMY!
MOOOOOMMMMMYYY!!!
I looked down.
It was Number 6.
Ugh.
I just wanted to be left alone.
“MOMMY!” he said, one more time.
“WHAT?” I snapped.
“I love you sooo much,” he said.
Huh.
Sometimes your kids really add to the stress.
But other times, they know just what to do to make things a little bit better.

Thank you for this. We woke up excited for the first day of school yesterday to a completely flooded garage, my daughter had an accident in her bed and swapped her bed for the couch… Which she also had an accident on. Soaked linens and a peed on couch– perfect. Just when Monday looked like it was going to be the worst day– today happened! Out sweet eldest pup had a grand mal seizure in front if my eyes and I thought for sure he was going to die. $300 later at the vet– he is still alive and kicking. I kissed my girl today and told her ‘I love you, Monkey’ She replied ‘not as much as I love you… And please don’t call me Monkey anymore, i’d prefer you refer to me as ‘Money’ going forward’ lol. Sometimes our kids timing is so off and others, they put your entire day/life into perspective with their love, wit, and humor. Love your blog. -Ashley http://www.smashleyashley.com

You are so right. I do the same thing. Sometimes I’m expecting my daughter to drive me crazy and she does something completely sweet and makes me realize I’m being a shit head. LOL! I get distracted so much lately that I need to get my head out of the clouds and pay attention to her. Granted I don’t have quite as many kids – somehow I still manage to zone out with one.
