Not too long ago, I posted a picture of Number 7 on Facebook.
She was wearing a pull up and didn’t have a shirt on.
And she had decorated herself with a Sharpie.
I thought it was funny.
Facebook thought it was porn.
And I received a message asking that I remove the picture.
Today I was scrolling through Facebook, and Elizabeth Gilbert, the woman who wrote Eat, Pray, Love shared a link to an article on her Facebook page.
It was shared by over 600 people.
It was “liked” by thousands.
It’s a photograph retrospective where a woman, Lucy Hilmer, has taken a picture of herself, topless, on her birthday every year since she was in her thirties.
She’s 68 now.
I don’t think I can use the picture attached to the link that showed up on my page in this post because it’s copyrighted.
But here is the link.
I do not have a problem with the content at all.
I think it’s great.
More power to Lucy Hilmer.
But I’m just a little confused.
I guess all nipples are not created equal.

That’s nuts.
Oh, and sharpies were invented by the devil, to mark children and destroy things.
I have a deep love/hate relationship with them.

seriously???? that’s insanity. Did someone maybe report the picture? I’m sure I’ve posted pics of my daughter in a diaper and wasn’t asked to remove them (yet).

I’m guessing that Facebook does this entirely by computer algorithm, so no human judgment was made — and i’m glad they are erring on the side of zero risk when it comes to child porn. but thanks for posting the picture, as it’s hilarious — and we’ve had worse!

I agree with Shaunacey, I bet some confused person reported it, and there was no human judgement by facebook. But I like that, “all nipples are not created equal”.
