Number 3 loves baseball.
LOVES it.
And I have written before about how the sport has done wonders for his self esteem.
I’ve written about it here.
And here.
Needless to say, with baseball season upon us, Number 3 is very excited.
He’s excited to play rec baseball.
He’s excited to play travel baseball.
Well,
he was.
Until we found out there was no coach for the 8-year-old travel team this year, so they wouldn’t be having a travel team for his age group.
But then we got news that he’d be able to play on the 9-year-old team, because they were short players.
So he was excited again.
That only lasted a couple hours, because then we got news that due to a mix up, there were actually no spots open on the 9-year-old team.
So we were back to no travel baseball.
And being really bummed.
Number 3 was pretty upset.
I felt bad.
So I did what any mom in that situation would do.
I sat him down.
I explained to him that sometimes things just don’t go the way you want them to.
That this might be one of those times.
Or not.
Because someone volunteered to be the 8-year-old travel team coach.
Someone named…
Mommy.
Uh huh.
Of course, I haven’t been given the thumbs up yet.
But seeing as I played varsity softball for 3 years in high school, and played in a women’s league up until the summer before I got married, I don’t see why I won’t be.
I mean, Number 3’s coach last year never played an inning of baseball in his life.
So I’d say I’m as qualified as the rest of them.
Move over Gentlemen.
It’s time someone shows these boys how to really coach a baseball team.

You go Momma!! I coach my boys too. They are actually more responsive to my coaching than my daughter is. I love it!
