A friend gave me this hutch a few months ago.
She had been using it in her son’s room, but he had outgrown it and she didn’t want it anymore.
It’s a cute little piece, but that knotty pine isn’t for everyone.
I gave it to my dad and he got right to work.
I asked him to get rid of the pegs at the top.
He filled the holes and then primed the whole thing.
I asked him to paint the back of the hutch blue and the rest of it white.
I didn’t like the hinges but didn’t want to buy new ones.
I asked him to paint right over them…I wanted to give it an aged look, and that would help.
We switched out the knobs for plain white ones.
Then, using sandpaper, I distressed the edges, corners, and areas where it naturally would have had some wear and tear.
It turned out great!
