We had a recent, unexpected development here over the weekend.
While I’ve been trying to reassure myself that it happened for a reason,
and that a year from now I will look back on this time and say,
Thank God for that,
it is still a major curveball.
It is going to force us to make some pretty big changes.
And while they are changes that need to happen, figuring out how to make them happen is going to take some serious work.
It’s not going to be easy.
I was beginning to feel a little discouraged.
My husband started a job a few weeks ago that would at least give us some money to get through the winter.
Yay!
And then there was a poo geyser in our basement, and we learned that our septic system had failed.
Boo.
But then, out of nowhere, without notice,
this big box appeared in my driveway.
(If you missed that post you can read it here).
Yay!
Then, this weekend, the curveball.
Boo.
In order to make one of the necessary and big changes, we really need to get either a laptop or an Ipad.
But coming up with that extra cash,
especially now at Christmas,
was presenting a challenge.
I was feeling discouraged.
Again.
But the universe intervened.
Again.
Yesterday my husband walked inside with the mail.
He put a stack of envelopes on the table.
I shoved the bills to the side and went straight for the Christmas cards.
There were about 10 of them.
One by one, I opened them.
I came to the last one.
I looked at the return address.
Remember that big box?
From the girl I used to babysit for?
The last Christmas card in the pile was from her sister.
I opened it.
And this is what I saw:
Cue tears.
My husband asked me what was wrong.
I couldn’t even look at him.
I just handed him the card.
Yay!
Not just yay…
Hallelujah!
Halle-freaking-lujah.
Curveball by curveball,
miracle by miracle,
I guess the universe is steering us in exactly the direction we need to go.

As the saying goes “You reap what you sow” I’m thinking you’ve got some pretty good seeds planted out there and they’re coming back when you need them the most.
Happy Holidays!
