How to “age” a piece of furniture by 100 years in 5 minutes.

Here are some tips to use if you are trying to give a new piece of wood, or a new piece of furniture, an aged look.

We used a piece of pine.

First, give it a coat of stain.

Then, beat the shit out of it.

Get a rubber mallet and a big screw.

That leaves a cool mark.

You can use the end of a clamp.

It makes a little ding like this.

Next, get a chain. This is from a chainsaw, but any chain will do.

Turn it on its edge and give it a few good whacks.

Get a hatchet. Go to town.

Piece of cake!

Maybe you don’t have all these tools at your disposal… Be creative.

Use the back of a hammer.

A rock.

A few different things that will make different types of marks in the wood.

Whatever you can find.

This literally takes minutes, but the effect is pretty awesome.

Plus, there’s not really anything you can do to mess it up. The more beat up, the better!

That looks great! Also, a really good way to get out some aggressions. I may start doing this…

Just thought I’d pop by and say I found this post and then took to my bedroom and used these techniques on my bookshelf. It came out super amazing and I’m so taken with the results.

So thanks for sharing! Great post! 🙂
