A couple weeks ago I got a text…
There was a table on the side of the road.
I dropped off Number 3 and 4 at school and went to check it out.
I gave the table to my father. He’s like the Duke of Refinishing.
I asked him to strip the top and stain it, and clean up the bottom and paint it black.
He did it, and all I can say is…
WOW.
This is one of my favorite ways to refinish a table, especially if you want to keep the top natural wood color — stain the top and paint the bottom a semi-gloss black. Painting the bottom black is a quick fix/cover up if there are some dings or spots on the bottom that you don’t have the time (or desire) to fix in order to be able to stain them.
It’s a classic look and it looks great on any style table!
Next time you see a table that you think is past its prime, remember this technique. You may be able to bring it back to life!
