The YMCA that I belong to is running this program called Lose to Win.
It’s a Biggest Loser kind of thing. There are approximately 20 teams of 6 who are participating.
Through the blog, I was able to get a team together, and last night, we had the kickoff meeting.
So I had to get weighed in last night.
Which wasn’t a big deal. I’ve already broadcast my weight to the world.
But my BMI and the measurement of my waist is a little bit, um…
At least they are both still lower than my age.
So that’s good.
If I were, say, 25.
Anyway, I’ve come a long way as far as how I view my body.
I mean, I’m not happy with what it looks like right now, but it has done some pretty amazing things.
It has pumped out some really beautiful children.
It has completed a half marathon and 3 triathalons.
After giving birth to my children.
All at well over 150 pounds.
So that’s something to be proud of.
And my self esteem does not rest almost completely on the size of my pants like it did 20 or 15 or even 5 years ago.
I used to look like this:
Yeah. And I wasn’t even completely satisfied with what my body looked like then.
That was on my honeymoom.
Less than 9 years ago…
It looks like this.
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
But I wanted to put up a before picture.
Because I really, really, really want to have an after picture.
That looks a lot different.
So I have 12 weeks.
That’s how long the Lose to Win program is.
Now, I don’t expect to be putting that polka dotted bikini back on in April.
And I don’t have a magic number of pounds that I want to lose.
But I do want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit.
I want to feel hot in a bathing suit.
But I’m also pretty competitive, and there are prizes awarded for the following categories:
highest percentage of weight lost
most cardio minutes completed
most fitness classes attended
most laps swam
most indoor cycling classes attended
Well, I plan on winning at least 2 of those myself.
So I’ve got to go.
Somwhere under all this flab there’s a six pack, and come hell or high water, I’m going to find it.
