My husband got this from a customer who was throwing it away. It’s the top to a hutch.
The customer had attached a bulletin board to the bottom section of the hutch.
We removed that bulletin board section (it was just attached with velcro).
My husband built a simple base for the bottom of the piece.
We removed the velcro, the light that was attached to the underside of the shelf, and got rid of the cord.
A few coats of paint,
But there was still that bulletin board section we removed…
I didn’t want to waste that.
My husband had built this frame for something else, but it was the wrong size.
I didn’t want to waste that either.
So I asked him to put a plywood back on it, and cut part of that bulletin board material to fit one side (it was covered in burlap — I saved that, and recovered it once it was cut).
Then, we painted it white, painted one side with chalkboard paint, and put the bulletin board piece back in the other side.
