I love apples and peanut butter.
And I love bananas and peanut butter.
And I love peanut butter and honey.
And I love oatmeal.
So I combined them all and made Apple-Banana-Peanut Butter-Honey Oatmeal.
It takes about 2 minutes to prepare.
Here’s what you do. Combine the following ingredients:
- 1/2 mashed banana
- 1/2 chopped apple
- 3/4 c water
- 1/2 c old fashioned oats
- 1 tbs peanut butter (I use the natural kind from Costco with no sugar added)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt (or to taste)
Stir ingredients and then microwave for 5 minutes.
That’s it, and it’s a great breakfast made with real food. It’s something you could combine before you leave for work, and throw in the microwave at the office when you are ready to eat, or even prep the night before so you can just wake up and heat it up in the morning.
Not only do I love it, but my kids love it too (although if your kids are used to things really sweet, you might want to sprinkle a little brown sugar on top after you heat it up).
The apples and banana give it plenty of sweetness. Good source of protein and fiber, it keeps you full and satisfied all morning, and it’s about 425 calories.
