But who the hell is Susie Johnson?

I am a real mom, just like you, raising 7 children ranging in ages from 3 to 17.

I know how hard it can be to make time for yourself and to make healthy choices when you are working around the needs and demands of your children.

I have been there, and I get it. I really get it.

I was a Division I swimmer who, after getting married, got pregnant a bunch of times, stopped taking care of myself, and gained a ton of weight.

Up until two years ago, I was overweight and out of shape. I was tired and depressed and feeling unattractive. I had seven kids, made no time for myself, rarely showered, and lived in yoga pants and oversized sweatshirts.

After trying to lose weight and failing,repeatedly, I finally committed.

I joined a Biggest Loser type of challenge at my gym to help myself stay on track.

I lost a total of 40 pounds.

By September 2013, I looked like this:

But once all the competition was over, I gained some of the weight back. 18 pounds, to be exact.

I went back to the drawing board, and that’s when I learned two things:

1) exercise and weight loss need to be manageable

2)exercise and weight loss need to be sustainable.

So I changed my approach.

And now I’m back to that after picture.

That’s why I created the Not Your Average Fitness Course series!

Susie…..thank YOU…..thank you for the e-course….for the motivation and most of all the inspiration. I started my body journey with you a little over a year ago…..I was 42 pounds heavier….and completely out of shape. I’ve learned that every effort however small is a step. Exercise does not have to be done in hour chunks of time….spread that shit out if thats how your schedule allows. Its ok for me to have time for exercising… feels good to exercise….it changes my mood, my attitude and my outlook. My body craves exercise now….it craves healthy food…..and its ok to eat the crap….in moderation. I learned how good it feels to set goals…..and achieve them! I, for the first time in many many years feel good in my skin…..and like what I see in the mirror….I even feel sexy….wtf is that shit all about. I bought a 2 piece skirtless swimsuit….I showed my stomach today at the beach….another first in many many years. So from the bottom of my healthy heart….THANK                                                                                                                                                           YOU! Im diggin my new body. And heres to workin hard to get the last 10lbs off.

Don’t just take my word for it. Even MORE words from past participants:

 I had given up. Given up on myself, the way I look, my health, my inner athlete. Using every excuse in the book for why I couldn’t workout and eat right.  3 kids, busy schedules, traveling husband, no help,  exhaustion, etc.  Trying for a week, a month, and always giving up.  UNTIL a mom (to 7 children) blogger starts getting fit…and keeping track of it. Showing before and after pictures, and using quotes like, “I am tired of being sick and tired”, and “if you have time to Facebook, you have time to workout” and “no more excuses”.  Wow, THAT is me, I thought. So,  I spent the money, signed up for her e-course and thought, if SHE can do it….why can’t I?  I did not step on a scale, I just started doing what  she told me to do. Starting out SMALL at 35 mins a day, and now 7 weeks later I am going BIG…wanting to workout everyday, sometimes twice, running a 5k, squeaking workouts in between picking up kids, scheduling my day around them, eating well, sleeping better, getting STRONGer, and losing weight.   The community  of women with the same goals really helps keep you motivated.
